I use to be so good at keeping this thing updated! I have no idea why I can't do it now. The house looks the same as it ever did - chaotic - so me focusing on getting other things done isn't what's keeping me from posting. Oh well, I'm doing it now so I guess that's good enough. Now, if I could just remember what all I was going talk about....
Following this post will be a couple more that have pictures. One is the Fourth of July and one is the Relay For Life, so I won't go into those ones on this post.
Potty Training:
We are doing SO good with potty training! Sydney is wearing underwear all the time during the day now - even for naps! She still wears a pull-up for over night. She's gotten up a few times with a dry one so once that starts happening a little more regularly, we'll be done with the pull-ups! Hooray!
As a side note to Sydney, I just have to mention here her cute names for K.C. and I. She calls K.C. Daddad (just like what we call my dad) and she calls me Mommom. It sounds so cute!
Whole Foods Journey:
We LOVE our Blendtec blender and use it several times a day. The girls ask for smoothies now! I've also kind of gotten into raw eating. I've just started with it and in no way will probably ever eat totally raw, but I am going to try to eat mostly raw. I've found some pretty good recipes on Raw Food Art - a pink smoothie, protein complete bar and vanilla cookies. I'm looking forward to trying some dinner recipes soon. I hope they are good since I had to pay for them! I've even ordered a dehydrator to aid in my raw eating. We'll see how it goes.
However, I am having a hard time trying to figure out why I'm gaining weight instead of loosing weight! I feel like I'm getting good exercise through Stroller Strides and working 4 days a week. I feel like I'm eating pretty healthy - way better than before. Yet I'm gaining weight. In fact I told K.C. that if it weren't for the fact that I haven't skipped any periods, then I would swear I was pregnant since my gut is where all of the weight is going (and my thighs, of course!). He likes to remind me that just because something is natural, it doesn't mean it's healthy or good for you. Maybe all of the agave we are putting in the smoothies is doing it? Maybe I'm just simply eating too much? I don't know but I'm damn sure going to figure it out! My clothes are getting waaaaaaay too tight for me!
Tomatoes:
Remember when Sydney pulled all of the tomatoes off our plant while they were all green? Someone at work told me to wrap them in newspaper, so I did. I'm happy to report that about half of them are red now and ready to eat! We'll have to give them a try soon.
Life:
I've made it a point to try to play more instead of stressing about the house - since it's never as clean as I'd like it to be anyway. We've gone on another hike with the mom's group, played in the sand and water at Lake Wilderness and even had a couple of play dates with friends. I still seem to rush things on the days where I have to work, but I'm trying to calm down with all of that and just go with the flow.
I am very excited that we got a web cam and were able to video call Nana & Dadad and my sister Tami and her family last night! We are going to try a conference video call tonight to see if we all can be on at the same time!
So, that's about all of the catch up that I have this time. Two more post with pictures to follow.

Yeah I'm having the same problem with the smoothies. I have an idea what it is. In Chinese Medicine, these cold and difficult to digest foods are not good for the spleen. So, you may find that you feel more cold more often, your belly is swollen/distended and you may even bruise more easily. I've been trying to put more "warm" ingredients into the smoothies by way of spices. I add a bunch of cinnamon to each smoothie and, if I use frozen fruit, I'll eat candied/crystallized ginger. Crystallized ginger is a taste that has to grow on you. It is spicy but looks like dried fruit rolled in sugar so it is very confusing seeing it and tasting it.
At any rate, these spices are warm and hot which may offset the cold damage that is being done by the smoothies. You could also drink warm tea or just warm water a little before, during and after the smoothies. Try that and see if you feel better. I think that raw food diets are very extreme and radical. I don't know that our body is made to use raw foods. I think that the should be cooked a little bit even if they are still very crunchy. Yeah, cavemen survived on such a diet but our bodies have evolved since cavemen. We do not have the same digestive system. We can't eat what they ate.
Do what makes you feel good but don't restrict yourself. Let me know how that dehydrator works for you. Those kale chips sound yummy!
